Can pours with a deep dark body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up loads of peanut butter like nuttiness leading to chocolate and then more nuttiness rimmed thinly with malt roastiness. The taste is similar with bold peanut butter nuttiness rolling quickly into modest murmurs of chocolate. Firmly nutty beer.

Can, 12C. Almost black with a tan head that settles to a cm. 3+ Slightly earthy aroma with plenty of hazelnuts and chocolate, some ground coffee, roast, iffy vanilla. Happily it smells more savoury than Nutella. And so it goes: smooth, barely medium bodied, lowish carbonation. Not too sweet with the stout playing a lesser part than the flavourings but still just about holding its own. There’s quite intense roasted malt under the nuts and chocolate and a decent whack of bitterness at the end. Not bad at all.

Pour is a black with a large tan head. Aroma is a definate hazelnut with a nice milk chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor is hazelnut and cocoa butter with a mild roast. A bit of a thin body but the flavors of the hazelnuts and chocolate stand out. Just like liquid Nutella.

On tap, the only dark beer I’ve tried from them was an inky Imperial Stout. From the beige head of foam rises an aroma of hazelnut and chocolate but a touch syrupy which makes me think it is extract. Medium to light bodied and dry with dark acrid coffee, nuts and bitter chocolate. I enjoy the balanced flavor more than the syrupy sweet aroma. Alright but quite a bit below their hoppy beers.

Can into a wineglass showing pitch black with latte colored foam lacing. The nose shows barely anything just very light hints of roasted malts. The palate is light bodied and highly carbonated. Lightly sweet with flavors of cane sugar, light tart coffee tartness with a very light coffee bitterness on the finish.

500 ml can from Uptown. Pours a dark brown color with a small white head. A light cocoa and milky roast nose. The flavor is big lactose, milky, cocoa, some caramel. Quite nice. Smooth. Salty almost.

Pounder: Hazelnut and pecan nose, fairly strong. Black, thin tan head. Charred oak, hazelnut, cocoa. Coffee and wormwood finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation. I love the concept and love hazelnuts.

Bomber from Craft Beer Kings. Pours dark brown with a huge creamy/foamy dark tan head. Aroma of vanilla, nuts and dark malt. Near full bodied. Flavor is creamy Nutella with dark malt. Seriously, I get the name thing. It’s not so far off. Not a big hazelnut fan, but it works really well here. Kudos to the adventurous brewers. It’s not dry, and it’s not bitter, but it’s a pretty tasty stout.
