Bottle, 22oz. A dark brown, unclear and oily, with a few bubbles on top. Alcohol, caramel sauce, coffee and some chocolate. Some licorice, vanilla and wood. It's full bodied, warming and sweet, with a low carbonation level. Dark chocolate, heavy caramel sauce, roasted malts, some licorice and a touch of vanilla. Alcohol too. Everlasting finish. There we go, the OG! I was wondering how this held up, and the answer is pretty well! It does feel a tad old, but that's to be expected. Vanilla is soft, body is creamy and rich, bourbon is smooth and delicious. Not as brilliant as 2016, but very good.

Medium body, sweet, boozy. Bourbon, vanilla, dark chocolate. Missing the brownie batter, more just bourbon and vanilla. Really smooth and rich, succulent, delicious.

2021 vintage, on draught at Tap+Bottle North, 2/9/22. Pretty cool to find this, randomly, so close and easy to procure. Inky, ebony, opaque liquid with a dark tan head that steadily fades to memory. Excellent fudge, vanilla, even barrel character, hints of soy, burnt caramel and lightly spicy bourbon. Everything seems well-aged and for a current vintage, this is shockingly even and well-aged. What it doesn't have is any obnoxious coconut, hot alcohol (really not much alcohol apparent at all, which is crazy) or other over-barreled notes. The vanilla, while present, still remains just a component. Dense malts round everything out and hold it together. High aroma strength and I actually like the light, but distinct oxidative notes. In the mouth, it's soft, supple, luxurious and intensely dense, yet not a cakey, cloying sugar bomb. A reasonable attempt at attenuation, with apparent aging leads to even, mild, even fruity flavors mixing with milk chocolate, fudge, caramel, coffee and vanilla. Nothing overdone here, least of all the barrel character which never contributes more than tannic structure, light spice and hints of soft alcohol. Rich and warming. So very impressed by the relative balance and even, slowly-developed flavors and appreciation for not pumping a massive barrel-aged stout out before its ready. Bottle Logic well-deserves its top tier reputation in my book, and FO is certainly as deserving as any at the top.
