Parkin is a real feel-good cake, all gingery, stodgy and treacly. This beer emulates that with Muscovado sugar, blackstrap molasses, ginger and lots of dark grains to make it a sweet, complex, gingerbread tasting treat.

Cask at Hogshead, Wolverhampton Pours pretty much black with a small tan head and good lacing. Nose is a combination of oats and golden syrup with some roast malts lurking in the background. In the mouth it is creamy, with dark fruits combined with cornflakes and oatmeal. Some bitterness in the finish, as well as treacle. This is nice, but Iām not sure Iād want to drink more than one !
