Old school meets new school in this fresh approach to the classic IPA. At 50 IBU’s and 6.7% ABV, Breaking Bud features the restrained bitterness and alcohol of a classic IPA with newer tropical fruit hop flavors and aromas of Mosaic. Also in the hop mix are Simcoe and CTZ, creating layers of mango, passion fruit, pine and dank. A malt bill with a pinch of crystal malt and a hefty dose of flaked wheat keeps the beer crisp while adding flavor complexity. Cheers to the past, present and future!

It's not bad, but doesn't really live up to the awesome label. It does have a very nice aroma, with pine, pineapple and spearmint really prominent. The pineapple combines with a little apple and a little biscuit and honey. My main criticism is that it is a little thin in the palate, but on the other hand it does hide its alcohol well while leaving a warm afterglow in the throat.

Growler from Joe Canal’s in Woodbridge, NJ. Brilliant honey gold pour has a small frothy beige head and clinging lace. Fragrant pine nose is pronounced. Light toasted malt flavor is crisp and clean. Notes of tropical fruit and pine in mid taste and finish. Peppery aftertaste. Well made.

Solid IPA, a nice mixture of piney west coast IBU strength with some northeast tropical hop friendliness. Grapefruit, pineapple, mango and berry sit on top of a toasted grain sweetness, then roll into a citrus-tinged conifer back end, blending pinecones and pepper with a dank undertone. Pour is good, coming out slightly hazed with a sizeable head and ample lace. Dank tropical citrus nose begs for attention. Good texture, great overall IPA.

Bottled from Texas
Had it during the finale episode of Breaking Bad. Slightly hazy yellow colour, small white head. Tropical fruits and gasoline in the nose. Fruity flavour has pineapple, pine, gooseberry and grass. Short fruity finish. Quite simple and typical American oIPA. Bought it 5 months earlier, still Ok,

Pours clear amber or golden. Lots of hop weed in the nose. Fresh, resiny and just satisfying. You open a bag of hops and that’s the sensation you will get. Drinks super smooth, very balanced and drinkable, beautiful hoppy delight where herbal hops are shining. Great beer.

Pour is a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma is a nice dankness with some peach and red berry. Flavor is equally nice with some heavy dankness and green onion. More fruit comes out after the swallow with a bit of pine and chewy malts. Sometimes your don’t know what you are getting with IPA’s these days but this was a fine beer to have. Just under 2 months from the canned on date and this is still drinking just fine.

On tap at the Brass Tap, Round Rock. Clear amber under a slow fading white head. Nose is light caramel malt under a prominent pine resin and citrus peel. Very light caramel is quickly lost under a big pine and citrus bitterness and then reappears late in the finish as the bitterness fades. Mouth is medium slick with average carbonation and a long finish. 8 /3 /7 /3+ /15
