Score
7.50
ABV: 6.5% IBU: 50 Ticks: 91
Old school meets new school in this fresh approach to the classic IPA. At 50 IBU’s and 6.7% ABV, Breaking Bud features the restrained bitterness and alcohol of a classic IPA with newer tropical fruit hop flavors and aromas of Mosaic. Also in the hop mix are Simcoe and CTZ, creating layers of mango, passion fruit, pine and dank. A malt bill with a pinch of crystal malt and a hefty dose of flaked wheat keeps the beer crisp while adding flavor complexity. Cheers to the past, present and future!

Tap at Hair of the Dog, Phrom Phong, Bangkok. Poured a slightly hazy straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, nettle hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a crisp, dry malt, light fruit, nettle hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to Tips for the can. Light haze on this gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Touch of creamy sweetness from the thin malts. Piney hop and light fresh orange. Light finish. Good stuff but had much better hop juice from this brewery.

Can from Wine Tree East. Pours a clear deep gold with a finger of foam that lingers then dissipates. Piney, citrus forward nose. Grapefruit abound. Bitter on the palate. Great clean and crisp West Coast IPA. Lingering citrus pith bitterness. I like it. --- Beer merged from original tick of Breaking Bud on 28 Dec 2017 at 21:17 - Score: 7. Can shared in CW - cheers Tipple! Pours unclear yellow-gold with a light, creamy white head. The nose holds melon and passion fruit. Light to medium sweet flavour, with more nice passion fruit notes, moderate rindy bitterness, tangerine, melon. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with light boozy warmth, more rind, some pine. Nice.

Can at L42 - thanks to Adrian. It pours clear yellow - gold with a medium foamy white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, oily, lemonade, limeade, candy, icing sugar and bread. The taste is soft, bitter - sweet, oily, lemonade, limey, tangerine, citrus peel, soapy, green and grass with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Decent enough stuff.

It's not bad, but doesn't really live up to the awesome label. It does have a very nice aroma, with pine, pineapple and spearmint really prominent. The pineapple combines with a little apple and a little biscuit and honey. My main criticism is that it is a little thin in the palate, but on the other hand it does hide its alcohol well while leaving a warm afterglow in the throat.

Growler from Joe Canal’s in Woodbridge, NJ. Brilliant honey gold pour has a small frothy beige head and clinging lace. Fragrant pine nose is pronounced. Light toasted malt flavor is crisp and clean. Notes of tropical fruit and pine in mid taste and finish. Peppery aftertaste. Well made.
