Old school meets new school in this fresh approach to the classic IPA. At 50 IBU’s and 6.7% ABV, Breaking Bud features the restrained bitterness and alcohol of a classic IPA with newer tropical fruit hop flavors and aromas of Mosaic. Also in the hop mix are Simcoe and CTZ, creating layers of mango, passion fruit, pine and dank. A malt bill with a pinch of crystal malt and a hefty dose of flaked wheat keeps the beer crisp while adding flavor complexity. Cheers to the past, present and future!

Hazy light tan. Frothy head. Grapefruity, orangey nose...big aromatics, very appetizing. Sweet pale malts, lots of bright orangey-tangerine hops. Good brew.

This was poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a soft bronzed transparent color with a nice moderately paced carbonation rising to hit a half finger’s worth of white foamy head maintaining a cap of a slim white head.
The aroma breaks out with sharp contrasting levels of citric hop oils to sweet danky onion. Resinous residue over some light malts.
The flavor maintains a nice level of sweet while still balancing very nicely with the bitterness of the hops. Malts play exactly what they should be in an IPA. Exceptionally clean well preserved sharp crisp bittersweet aftertaste (IMO, but this could be possibly the absolute best aftertaste I ever had in an IPA). Quick mainly bitter finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice fair sessionability about it. Carbonation hits just right. Bitter to sweet \"feels\" hit the tongue appropriately for an AIPA.
Overall, everything just seems so right for this beer, as an AIPA as an all around hoppy offering to please hopheads. Of course, I’d have this again.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a dark golden color with a medium sized foamy white head that left excellent lacing. The aroma was sweetish, tangy and piney. The flavor was bitter and tangy with piney and earthy hops. Long finish. Medium body. Ok.

On tap at Blind Tiger, Greenwich Village on 10th July 2016. Gold with shallow of-white foam and partial lacing. Very fruity aroma with peach and tangerine. Tangy fruitiness in-mouth, with mango, grapefruit and tangerine present. A bitter and citric finish. Medium-bodied with a full-on zingy texture. Lush! Probably the most enjoyable beer I have drunk during my week in America.
