Old school meets new school in this fresh approach to the classic IPA. At 50 IBU’s and 6.7% ABV, Breaking Bud features the restrained bitterness and alcohol of a classic IPA with newer tropical fruit hop flavors and aromas of Mosaic. Also in the hop mix are Simcoe and CTZ, creating layers of mango, passion fruit, pine and dank. A malt bill with a pinch of crystal malt and a hefty dose of flaked wheat keeps the beer crisp while adding flavor complexity. Cheers to the past, present and future!

I have officially had more Breaking Bud IPAs than I have seen Breaking Bad episodes. 1-0! I would watch TV, but I don’t want to. Draft pour pint at the Hop and Hound. Bright, clear golden pour with an active fizz head. Big grapefruit aroma. Flavor too. Citrus blast, dominant grapefruit, and a medium to high bitter hop, slightly sweet finish. Lingering, huge hop presence. Solid IPA for sure. Update: even better out of the can. Amazing IPA.

Bottled 21/12/15. Clear gold with a inch of white head that fades but laces well and is never less than a coat.3+ Aroma of mandarins, marijuana, passionfruit, pine needles. Oily with moderate to low carbonation Sweet with tinned mandarins and peaches in syrup. Tropical and dope notes are swamped but the pine comes through. It’s a bit harsh as it dries out a bit towards the end, but it’s still mostly welcome because the bitterness is not enough to counter the sweetness. Lovely aroma. Taste grew on me a bit, although the malt side of things is more clearly lumpen rather than supporting as it warms. Is the "95" in the corner of the fictitious "Bu" element on the label a defeatist joke? Probably not.

Bottle. Pour a near clear light yellow with a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has sweet grains and biscuit with some earthy citrus and a touch of resinous pine. Flavor has earthy citrus up from with sweet grains and biscuit supporting.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Bottle King - Livingston, 12/4/15
Aroma: Aroma of big pine and resin, some tropical fruit notes, and a bit of cracker
Appearance: Pours a clear orange color with a frothy off-white head and some fairly heavy lacing
Flavor: Tastes of resiny hops as well, bitter, a bit of citrus rind, and a rather mild malt presence
Palate: The body is medium, fairly clean, with average carbonation, and a nice, dry close
Overall Impression: This ones really nice. Hop hop bouquet that's lead by the pine / resin. Nice bitterness throughout. Malts are a little more subtle than typical, but there's enough here that it doesn't feel like they are missing. Tasty, hoppy beer.

Draught @ Albion. Cloudy bright orange with very small frothy whitish head, floral hops aroma, low carbonation, sweetish orange peel taste, medium bitter finish. More citrusy than hoppy, a bit of a disappointment.

Bottle from Darby’s Liquor Store, Vancouver
Hazy light golden color with medium sized compact head. The aroma is a hop symphony, very piney and tropical, pungent. The mouthfeel is bone dry, the driest I can remember; the malt flavor suffers a bit for that, doesn’t express much; but the hopping is huge, with mainly piney character, and long final.
A different and as always excellent hop monster by Knee Deep.
