375ml can. Jet black colour with minimally late awakening, small to average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, tan head. Roasty, minimally spicy and chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of roast, dark cocoa, a touch of coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice. Taste is roasty, chocolately, minimally ashy, smoky, dark malty and slightly caramel malty with subtle residual sweetness, slightly resinous and mildly bitter, hoppy, notes of roast, coffee, dark cocoa, hints of burnt coffee, burnt caramel, a touch of liquorice.
Oily texture, smooth and soft, slightly greasy palate, medium to fine, dense, mildly prickly carbonation.
Well hopped, fairly meaty, some nice "dirty" (smoky, ashy) features - good.

375mL can, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out a nice hearty oatmeal character upfront, with some gentle cocoa, and gentle bitterness. Flavour is roasty and hearty, with a nice hearty oatmeal stout, followed by gentle roast, and some bitterness. Hearty and full, with ample bitterness. Great stuff.

(Bottle) Pours black with good tan head. Pleasant aroma - toasty malts with hints of dried fruits and chocolate. Great palate - medium bodied, smooth with some bright carbonation. Taste is nicely balanced. There’s some uncharacteristic but well placed sweetness. This balanced nicely some burnt sugar and hoppy bitterness in the finish. There’s dried fruit / raisins in the start and middle, even a slightly port or tokay taste. Very nice, and slightly different, take on a stout.

Tap at the Empress Hotel, Melbourne. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a frothy off white head. The aroma is roasty malt, light dry charcoal, light liquorice, dry hop. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter with a smooth dry roasty malt, light grassy fruit, light dry coffee hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. An oatmeal stout with some black IPA characteristics.

From a 375ml bottle on 17//2017. Pours near black with a big tan head which dissipates quite quickly. The nose features chocolate, cocoa and some roasted notes. Take a sip and you’re greeted with real intensity. Masses of chocolate, caramel, licorice and roasted malt, with some soy and sea salt. The sweet up front is met forcefully by a big hoppy, slightly burnt bitterness, which is quite resiny and lingers long in the mouth. The palate is lovely - thick, slick and creamy with moderate to average carbonation. What an absolutely cracking stout this is. It drinks like an imperial and has enough hops to bring it close to black IPA territory. Splendid stuff.

Drank it a few nights ago. No notes, but wanted to record for my own notes that I loved it and should definitely drink it again.

375ml can into pint glass, lightly chilled. Black beer with a mahogany tinge around the edge. Big solid tan-coloured head. Nose is dark chocolate and cocoa. Smooth full-bodied stout with velvety mouthfeel. Bitter chocolate finish. Alcohol is warming and adds a rich fruity caramel note right at the end. Excellent stout, good nightcap.

Can. Pretty much black with a tan head that’s soon a coat. Aroma of mocha and molasses, some vanilla, pine. A nutty note that’s a little green. Smooth, low carbonation - or yes, the can says nitro (I’d assumed that was for draught only). But there’s no widget. So I guess it’s nitro but not much of it. And it works really well. smooth and oaty with more chocolate than coffee, quite strong citrus-tinged bitterness. Solid beer.
