We were looking for a bit more body in our 2017 Barrel Breed Imperial Stout so we brewed this sweet stout with lashings of Munich and Crystal malts for a full mouthfeel. We blended part of the tank in with the barrel aged stout, but felt it was too good a beer on its own merits to let the rest go unloved. We added in a kilo of Maker coffee beans for good measure and Sweet Rescue Coffee Porter is the result. Can you dig it, baby?
MALTS: Ale, Munich, Crystal, Roasted Malt, Carafa, Gladiator.
HOPS: Sterling.
OTHER INGREDIENTS: Maker Fine Coffee beans.

Handpump at the brewery. Poured a clear dark brown with a big frothy light tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, coffee, light chocolate. The flavour is moderate to light sweet with a smooth rich, dry roasty chewy malt, liqouirce dry woody hop bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Not really what I expected. I hoped for sweet cocoa, coffee vanilla but it wasn’t quite there. There was some coffee and minor sweetness but the finish was a little unpleasant. Not one I would order a second time sadly.
