Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was an amber color with a sly transparency about it. Finger’s worth of white foamy head sat atop of the beer and died off at a moderate pace. Light stringy lace.
The aroma had some floral to sweet and bitter, spicy to woody and a light grassiness. Subtle herbal and a little bit of earthy qualities amplify the rest of the nose.
The flavor leaned towards the spiciness slightly through the floral and earthy sweet to bitter components. There’s the rye! Good, I was waiting for that! Which moves into the aftertaste as I hoped it would showing off a little bit of spice to sweet.
The palate was about medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt good. Adequate harshness along my tongue.
Overall, seemed like the aroma only used hops to emulate rye and actually not have it in it. However, the flavor saved this beer as I did get that then.

Sampled on draft at Coopers Seafood House in Scranton this beer poured a dark caramel-orange color with a large foamy orange-white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was sweet pineapple, pine and pepper. The flavor was semi-sweet pineapple, lemon, pine, caramel, rye, wheat, pepper and vague spices. The finish was long tangy pineapple and spice. Moderately full bodied. Nicely done.
