330mL can, Cambodian version (8%), pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma brings out moderate roast, some vegetal character, and some oats. Flavour is similar, with moderate roast, oats, cola and a little soy sauce. Finishes oaty and soy-like. Nothing overly complex or smooth, as the carbonation is a bit high and the body is a bit thin. It's okay.

From old tasting notes. Pours an opaque black color topped by a huge foamy brown head. Big sweet roasted malt nose. Mildly sweet roasted mal upfront. Notes of milk chocolate and coffee in middle. Notes of burnt caramel and coffee with spicy hops in finish. Decent.

Almost black, foamy tan head, lasts a while, nice lacing. Aroma roasted, bread, brown sugar, coffee, bit smoky. Above medium sweet and bitter, roasted, hint of coffee. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation, finishes bittersweet with some smokiness and a drop of coffee.

0,5l can at hotel room in Sigiriya, Sri Lanka. Stri Lanka Edition at 8.8% ABV. BB 03/2017. dark brown colour, small coffee colored head. smells earthy, tobacco, caramel, bit milky, licorice, lightly boozy. decent smell. Full Body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes boozy, glueish, warming alcohol, lightly roasty, earthy, some dried fruits. finishes with some sharp alcohol notes and licorice and earthy notes. alcohol is way too obvious on this one, lacks some complexity.

Obviously this isn’t as good as the lion stout, which due to floods is ATM (very sadly) very difficult to get in Sri Lanka. It’s still a nice stout, especially if you’ve been drinking kingfisher for 3+ weeks... Comes with a dark frothy head when poured. Aroma is quite nice, dark malts, roast and liquorice are very noticeable with some booze in the background. Flavour is rather mild considering the abv. Creamy and malty mouthfeel followed by a very roasty taste full of caramel. Could be more complex but it’s a nice beer overall.

16oz can in Sri Lanka (8.8%) pours a murky black with some sudsy tan head. Nose is earthy, soil, dark brown sugar/molasses, some pencil lead, cheap chocolate, licorice. Doesn’t smell bad, just smells like a bunch of adjuncts. Flavor follows, cheap licorice, even some bubblegum, rootbeer lollipops, some brown sugar, cola. Just sweetness. Slick finish.
