Tap at the brewery. Poured a hazy straw colour with a round white head. The aroma is yeast, passion fruit. The flavour is moderate sour with a light fresh crisp, tart acidic passion fruit palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Somewhat one dimensional but it works.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange with a gold hue and a white head that starts and remains at the edges. Aroma is quite sour with passionfruit and mango with some light grains backing. Flavor has lots of mango with some passion fruit and only a mild tartness.

This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a glossy/hazy burnt yellow to orange color with a quickly dissipating white foamy head. Light speckled lacing slides right on into the glass.
The aroma starts off with some sweet mango and passionfruit quickly settling into sour puckering notes of bitter citrus rind and pulp.
The flavor was basically the same with a sweet wet and puckering sour citrus aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sipping to sessionable smooth sour feel rolling over my tongue.
Overall, as an American Wild ale, this one is a nice one that I could have again.

Holy fucken shit fuck, Batman! i never thought I’d see a sour beer on my NZ trip, and to find one from Oz just blows me away. Bottle at Goldings Free Dive in Wellington. Murky golden yellow color, few bubbles. Aroma of sour mango, pineapple. Taste is softly sour mixed tropical fruit and citrus. It actually works.

(Bottle) Cloudy amber orange with no head. Distinctive aroma pretty typical for the style, but quite confronting: plenty of funk with some vinegary notes and some hints of the fruit. Light body with spritzy, fairly modest carbonation. Taste is unusual, but not as confronting as the aroma. It is a clever balance of the earthy funky wild ale flavours and the sweeter and aromatic fruit. The foretaste is dominated by the tart vinegary and oak notes, which give way to passionfruit and some mango flavours which tail off into a rather pleasant tart finish. An unusual beer that works really well.

Sehr fruchtiger Säureantrunk, wenig bitter. Intensive Mangonoten, vollmundig, passend bitter. Die Säuerlichkeit ist breit gefächert und nicht übermäßig intensiv. Ausgewogen, die Fruchtnoten nehmen mit der Zeit nur wenig ab. Spritzig, süffig, super! 7/11/12/12/9/12

From a 330ml bottle on 18/6/2013. Pours a murky peach colour with no discernible head. Smells like fermenting passionfruit. It’s very sweet in mouth, with more passionfruit and some mango on display, balanced by a dry, tart, fermented sourness. Medium body and moderately carbed. Has a bit of character but in the end, it’s just a bit lacking. I’ll give ’em, points for trying something different, but not Moon Dog’s best by a long shot.
