This dark ruby premium ale is all about the malt, and we’ve packed a lot into this brew. It’s nutty, it’s malty and full of body. An old school strong English bitter.

Handpull cask at the Golden Hind, Cambridge. Ruby, noticeably translucent with a small cream-coloured head. It has a simple and unassuming malty scent with a strong suggestion of raspberry. Taste is sweet and malty with tannic notes. It turns bitter for the finish with berry, red wine and juniper in the aftertaste. Tring are brilliant at making simple, understated beer, and this is no exception.

Cask at the George, Croydon. It pours deep brown with a small, bubbly off-white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, dried fruits, cherry, fruit cake, oily, wood and leather. The taste is bitter, earthy, wood, leather, dull toffee, caramel, dried fruits and leaves with a dry, woody finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Decent fruity character, but it is a touch twiggy. OK.
