Sample at the brewpub. Brown-black pour with a medium frothy light beige head that diminishes gradually to a dense film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, coffee and chocolate. Light-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, coffee and bittersweet chocolate. The finish is roasty with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

5 oz. pour as part of flight at the brewery. Dark brown/mahogany, nice creamy head, good retention, nice lacing. Aroma strong, dry, earthy malt. Taste is strong, dry, earthy malt, minerals. Smooth, frothy, soft carbonation fin as taste.
