Coffee. Chocolate. Caramel. Vanilla. You’re used to seeing a lot of these terms when describing stouts. These are not just descriptors; they are ingredients. “Java,” as we call it, has become a crowd favorite by perfectly balancing the sweet and the roast, thanks to the use of Creme Brule coffee. The aroma and flavor are a coffee, chocolate or dessert-lover’s dream in a glass

Rich super deep dark brown coloured body with no head at all, almost fully opaque and hazy (or just dark). Aroma of super strong alcohol, icing sugar, burnt sugars, vanilla,  cream, lactose and pungent grain with a lot of deep notes here. Medium to Full-bodied; Very rich creamy and lactosey, milk notes dominate with a lot of depth and shows a good deal of grain, icing sugar and bitter coffee and roasty pungency, especially at the end. Aftertaste shows the vanilla, cream and especially lactose throughout, with a strong bitterness coming out from the finish with a burnt sugar and brewed coffee flavour that is pungent and much more so than earlier on. Overall, a rich, still very nice, but strong beer that has a lot of quality and pungency throughout and ends up being bitter and deep, but there are some sugars here, too, of course! . I sampled this ten ounce pour on draught at the Kunhenn Brewpub here in Warren, Michigan while back at home on 18-April-2023 for US$7,00.

On tap at Kuhnhenn - Clinton, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is intensely sweet, with ridiculously pungent crme brle and moderate coffee. Flavour is a little more tempered but still palate-wrecking, with lots of mocha, molasses, and caramelized sugar. Palate is rather milky, with a chocolatey and coffee-like finish. Not overly complex but it's a pleasant dessert beer.

8.5% abv version on draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a pitch black with a finger of beige foam that dissipates almost instantly. Lots of coffee in the nose, tiramisu character throughout. Some cheesecake, tiramisu on the palate, coffee cake and milk chocolate. Finish has some lingering tiramisu and roasty coffee bitterness. I like this.

Decent massive stout, heavy on the coffee and vanilla notes but with a sunscreen undertone that kinda gives the whole pint a cloy artificial note. Roasty malts mix with chocolate and marshmallow, and the impressively bitter finish keeps the sweetness from growing overbearing, but the fade has a strange industrial-made bottled creme brûlée flavor I just can’t dig. Great texture, pretty pour, but not my favorite.
