Cap comes off with barely any audible carbonation release....slightly concerning. The pour is nearly still, as well, with just a small cluster of pinkish-tinged, beige bubbles that immediately fizzle away. Bright, cranberry-tinted, cherry red body shows good clarity, leaving sediment behind.
Nose shows a burst of lightly tart, very fruity cranberry-currant-red grape as soft, saline and mineral-rich notes follow, with various red fruits and pretty easygoing acidity enter the mix. Lightly lactic with moderate Brett as well and plentiful red wine character that isn't overdone and shows little/no toast. No real acetic presence, which is pretty nice. Really not all that sour and smells like a BSA with a small amount of sour ale thrown in. Good phenol character on the end adds spicy, black pepper with grape skin and boisterous, fruity berry. The boysenberries don't create excessive acidity either, though the beer has had a good amount of time to age at this point. No alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth it's soft, fruity and very even and supple, showing wood tannin and a growing berry and wine-like character that adds light juiciness, moderate tartness and moderate acidity overall, without excessive lactic acidity. Very wine-like, especially given the extremely low carbonation. I'd guess this wasn't intentional, but who knows. Still, it works fine, though it does concentrate the heavy mineral, chalk and tannin-like qualities. With warming and breathing it continues to soften and the edges round even more. Gentle fruits, easygoing tartness and plentiful fruitiness without any sharp wood or acid. Very wine/beer hybrid-like. Elegant and easy to drink.
