Deep, dark and richly black, a powerhouse of a stout, with concentrated flavours of coffee and molasses, infused with clean fruity hops and balanced by a deep bitterness.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours almost black with minimal tan head and good lacing. The aroma is a not unpleasant mix of roasted malts, raspberries and coffee. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy but with a little underlying sharpness. Flavour is mainly milky coffee, summer fruits and roasted malts. Hints of cola and gooseberries come later leading to a slightly dry finish. This is reasonable – but a bit weird.
