Tap at the brewpub. 5% ABV. Poured a murky dark brown with a thin broken light tan head. The aroma is coffee, smoky malt. The flavour is malt, liqourice, smoked malts with a smooth liqourice palate and finish with a slightly frothy mouthfeel. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

From tap. Pours hazy dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and light breadish. Toasted. Liqourice, breadish and dry. Bitter. Dark roasted malt and liqourice herbal. Dry and bitter far finish.

5.6 ABV version. Smell of tar. Cloudy dark brown colour, brown head. Aroma of smoke, coffee, licorice, pepper. Bitter but finishes sweet. Nicely challenging. Heavy body, soft carbon. Slightly oily.

Tasted at the biere club in Bangalore. A decent stout, not anything extreme, but very ok in a mainstream kind of way. Nice roasted flavor with slight bitterness. Lacking a bit in roundness. Dark brown in color with a white head. Somewhat pricy for Indian standards at 325 Indian rupee for ½ litre. Their own scale rates the beer (a bit optimistically): Color 9, body 8, bitterness 8.
