Cisk Strong is an outstanding premium lager brewed from barley malt, with a full-bodied flavour and a distinct sweet taste. Its subtle bitterness and fresh fruity aroma make this high-gravity beer an ideal accompaniment to meats and savoury foods. A winter warmer, it is perfect to be enjoyed at home as a complementing beer to hearty stews, spicy food as well as barbequed meats and poultry. It is also recommended to serve Cisk Strong with blue cheese and cheddar when you have friends over at home.
Cisk Strong has an alcohol content of 9% ABV and not for the faint-hearted. It is available locally in bottles, and on draught in Italy. It is annually made available on draught at the Farsons Beer Festival as a treat to its growing loyal followers.

Bottle. Pours clear golden with airy white head. Clear aroma of yeast, skunk and cheap malt. Sweet flavour of malt and yeast, complemented by heavy bitter notes of alcohol (and to some extent hops). Lingering alcohol presence. Bitter finish. I don’t like this beer style and I don’t like this particular beer, either. Still, I have tasted worse SPLs.

Light gold, quite dull, no head. Plastic aroma and a bit of alcohol. Taste is only a little plasticy, and it is cleaner, less grainy than regular Cisk. For the type, it’s positively civilized. Malt liquor for adults.

Bottled. A golden beer with a lazing thin beige head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, caramel, and malt, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

33cl from a supermarked in Sliema. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of malt and alcohol. Classic malt liquor, very sweet, quite malty with a very noticable alcohol content. A bit unpleasant, but drinkable in case of emergency. Way to sweet and alcoholic for my taste, but hints of fruit comes along as I drink. Drinkable, but best avoided in my opinion. (2012-09-23)

12 oz. bottle. Pours pale yellow with a medium, beige head. The aroma is molasses, corn syrup, and white bread. The flavor is unpleasantly sweet, and the aftertaste is sour and awful. The palate is medium, grainy, and sticky. Overall, this is a terrible, malty beer, with mediocre aroma, and repulsive flavor.

12 oz bottle from Odeed. Nose is lots of banana, light alcohol, and hints of bubblegum and lacquer thinner.Clear yellow orange with a medium pale yellow head. Flavor is banana, a strong malty presence, and that hint of lacquer thinner. Kind of reminds in a way of a very strong weizenbock with the banana. Since the highest rated malt liquor I have rated is #45 out of the top 50, I guess this will be my highest rated. Do the best malt liquors come from Malta?

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear orange golden with a quickly diminishing white head. The aroma is a corn malt and cereal. Medium mouthfeel with a corn malt and honey. Not too much going on with this one.

Very clean and clear yellow color with a tight white head. Sugary sweet malts, yeast, grain, and some alcohol in the aroma. Thick and smooth mouth. Syrupy sweet flavor, malts, light hops, and some alcohol is picked up under all that sweetness. Really sweet lager hiding a bunch of alcohol underneath it all.

Bottle. Clear, almost golden beer with a white head. Alcohol, sweetness and maltyness, as well as a vague fruityness in the aroma. The flavor is sweet and malty as well, with some fruityness, a little bitter touch, and surprisingly not so much alcohol, at least not until the end. Medium full, sweetish body. The beer is too strong and unbalanced. I like strong beers, but they need a balance, and the alcohol should be more of the warming kind, than just alcohol. (070914)
