A traditional ‘Midland’ Mild in that it is a combination of pale and dark malts with only a small addition of Fuggles hops – at 4%, a satisfactorily quaffable version of an old favourite.

Cask at The Anchor, Digbeth, Birmingham. Poured a clear medium brown with a thin off-white head and lots of clingy lace. The aroma is nutty caramel. The flavour is medium to light bitter with a creamy smooth malt hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Really liked the smooth malt in this ale. The way all mild ales should be.
