Intense and warming, a meal in a bottle.

One can not help but appreciate Samuel Adams Double Bock's huge malt character. We use an enormous amount of malt, half a pound per bottle, to brew this intensely rich lager. Its deep brown-ruby color is all made in the kettle - no black malt is used, resulting in a rich sweetness that is free of the rough taste of burnt malt. All that remains is the velvet smooth flavor and mouthfeel of the two row malt. Samuel Adams Double Bock's intense malt character is balanced with a subtle piney, citrus hop note from the German Noble hops.

Purchased on my trip to Vegas at the Total Wine store. Second of the Sam Adams Imperial Series tonight. Pours a deep amber colour with a small beige head that does not stay long, but creates a bit of lacing. Medium scent of dark fruits (dates, plums) and caramel malts. Smooth oily mouthfeel. The taste is pretty close to its smell, with notes of bananas and nuts. Pretty well-brewed, just not my thing.

Bottle thanks to Roonai. Pours a clear brown with a red hue and an off-white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of toffee, caramel and sweet grains and a bit of backing alcohol. Flavor is sweet with grains, toffee and caramel wit a decent amount of alcohol in the finish.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours translucent reddish-copper with small beige head that dissapates quickly. Aroma is beautiful caramel, medium carbonation, some lacing, medium/thick body, and slightly oily texture. Taste is sweet caramel malt, a little off taste in the middle, a little hop bite in the end, some maple syrup, and alcohol peaks out. This is a little warm and there are others in this style I prefer I perfer (Salvator and Celebrator).

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark, slightly hazy copper with a small tan head. The aroma is maple syrup, cherries, figs and toffee. The flavor is overwhelmingly sweet and tart. The palate is heavy, thick and malty. Overall, a huge, sweet, flavorful beer.

Bottle. Poured a dark amber color with a white lead. Aroma is sweet, caramel malts. Flavor is malty, with a touch of alcohol. Surprised that I hadn’t had this one until now.
