Full bodied black stout. We use lots of oats to give a good mouthfeel and dark malts provide lots of backbone with toffee and caramel tones. Final gravity is 1013 giving an element of sweetness to balance the bitterness from the roast malts. This is a very easy drinking stout.

Tasting at the ever gracious ChrisO’s. Lightly hazy deep red -amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Light semi dry palate, mild fine carbonation. Mild dark malts, little dark chocolate. Whisper of dark fruits and paper. Light dry finish. Okay.

Aroma of bitter, burnt malts. Some cocoa, coffee in the background. Quite rich and strongbtasting with a prominent roasted, bitter finish.

Cask at the Craven Arms, Birmingham. Poured a deep brown colour with a reddish hue and a frothy tan head. The aroma is weak malt leading to a weak bitter flavour with a slightly sweet red berry fruit palate and not so much of the oatmeal as I expected. A super smooth ale and the right ABV for a session.
