500ml bottle. Dark mahogany, small off-white head, minimal retention. Aroma is toffee, malts, sweet, liquorice; lovely. The taste is decent but doesn't quite live up to the aroma. Its malty, cola and liquorice noted, quite sweet, nutty, hint of berries; nice but it just lacks something. Nice bitterness. Moderate body but feels a little thin for a 6.8%, carbonation is fine. I do like it still, I criticise because it could have been a great beer.

Poured a dark mahogany with a reddish hue and a big frothy tan head. The aroma is rich and fruity leading to a rich, weak bitter, fruity, slightly spicy flavour with hints of cranberries on the palate. Maybe I’m just thinking too much about Christmas! It’s quite a strong ale at 6.8% but the alcohol does not influence the flavour. This is the kind of Christmas ale we all want and expect!
