Stock Pale Ale
A collaboration with brewing historian Ron Pattinson and together they have recreated 19th century English Stock Pale Ale. This beer uses floor malted English pale malt, English Golding and U.S. Cluster whole hops and it is aged in oak casks for 10 months with brettanomyces. Look for Brewery Yard Stock Pale Ale to be packaged in 765ml bottles and the beer hits 8.4%-ABV and 60 IBU.

Bottle at In De Wildeman. A bit hazy light amber with a small head. Aroma and taste of mild brett, citrus, hops, grass and some oak. The body was medium and the alcohol well hidden. Not a bad one but expensive. (almost 30 EUR for the bottle)

Off white frothy head stayed on a near translucent, light copper coloured still body. Earthy, slightly sour aroma with malt. Medium bodied, thinning on the back. Sparkling on the palate & smoother on the finish. Slightly saison, sour tastes with zest, light citrus & malt background. Quite unusual.

Bottle, shared, brought by bierkonijn. Cloud golden color. Aroma’s of brett-funk, sweaty socks, fruity. Retronasal it’s sourish, sweaty socks, funk. Flavor is sourish, funky. Medium bodied. Finish is light bitter - best part as far as I’m concerned. Sorry, I didn’t like it.

Bottle thx to bierkonijn, small sample. Slight hazy golden color, short frothy head. Aroma is slight funky, bit green hops. Soft to medium bitterness, but not sharp as sometimes is the case in saisons with plenty of bitterness. Slight funky and bretty. For me, it could have a bit more bubblegum notes from Brett. Decent beer, but not too exciting. Maybe I should have heard the great storytelling of Ron Pattinson with it. Too bad I missed that.
