Handshake IPA is a commemorative collaboration beer brewed to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Green Flash and Alpine Brewing Company union. Brewmasters Pat and Shawn Mcilhenney and Chuck Silva combined peers to create an IPA worth of sharing with good friends. Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra, and El Dorado hops create a fresh, orange, peppery flavor with an earthy bitter finish. So delicious, let’s toast to a beautiful friendship.

Bottle. Dark yellow with a bit of haze under a generous mostly white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine resin. The flavor is firm fruity grapefruit bitterness. Maybe a tad thin but decent overall.

Tap @ Beer Temple, sample size. Hazy golden color. White head with short retention. Aroma’s: malty, citrus. Retronasal it’s citrus with light funk/brett notes. Flavor is moderate to full bitter with some fruity sourness. Medium bodied. Finishes rather bitter with some brett-funk. That was not what I expected.

22oz bottle. Unfiltered orange body. Foamy off-white head. Dry, not super pronounced aroma. Sort of classic in a West Coast way. Reasonable malt depth, some chewiness. The hops are pleasant, but really don’t capture much of the juicy tropical tones you might hope for. Citrus comes out the more it breathes. Quite drinkable for the 7%. Not gimmicky at all, solid IPA.

Draught at BrewDog Kungsholmen. Almost clear light amber liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of citrus, tangerine, mango, light caramel, grain and marmalade. Taste is very light sweet and medium bitter with notes of mango, tangerine, light juniper and light caramel. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. Pretty good. Nicely hoppy with a bit of a malt backbone but not too much.

Bottle from Boise Co-op. Vibrant golden body, small soapy head, streaky lacing. Piney hop aroma, moreso in taste, and incredibly smooth. My first assumption was a session IPA, hard to believe this is 7%. Very tasty.
