Handshake IPA is a commemorative collaboration beer brewed to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Green Flash and Alpine Brewing Company union. Brewmasters Pat and Shawn Mcilhenney and Chuck Silva combined peers to create an IPA worth of sharing with good friends. Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra, and El Dorado hops create a fresh, orange, peppery flavor with an earthy bitter finish. So delicious, let’s toast to a beautiful friendship.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a vibrant yellow-gold color with a medium sized fluffy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was sweet, piney and cactus. The flavor was sweet and tangy with sugar, pine, cactus and a moderate bitter presence. Turned dryish towards the long finish with pine and cactus lingering. Moderately full bodied. Ok.

Good beer as almost all other Green Flesh stuff. Piney hops in the aroma, a little but dry in taste with the piney bitterness. Good, but not excellent, because of not very rich taste (compared to their other IPAs).

Pours a cloudy, golden yellow with good-sized, frothy head. Aroma is very fresh, floral, grassy, with generous citrus and pine hops. Flavor is pretty bitter, with loads of citrus, some spice, pepper, and a wallop of hops. Very good beer.

Tasting at Matt’s
Hazy golden color, small head. Strong aroma of piney hops. Dry mouthfeel, little malt flavor, but strong hopping, very bitter, quite resiny, and not much fruity; bitter to the point of being a bit astringent in the final.
Nice.

Bottle - Sweet caramel notes and hops. Clear gold with a decent white head. Sweet malty and nice hops. Nice, but a little underwhelming considering pedigree.

22 oz. bottle, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is quite earthy and piney in the hop department, with biscuity malt, and a some seltzery notes. Flavour is along the same lines, with earthy and piney hops, and crisp biscuity malt. Finishes orangey and crisp. Excellent stuff, as one would expect from these brewers.

32oz growler pours with a crystal clear copper body that has some golden hues and supports a dirty white head of foam. The modest aroma offers up some mango, cantaloupe and pineapple as well as spicy hops and green hoppy sort of maltiness. The taste delivers an easy drinking blend of spicy hops, tropical fruitiness and citrus hops. It’s modestly bitter and juicy creating a pleasing quaffable hoppy experience. This is nice. I’m digging the tropical and spicy play going on. Dangerously drinkable.

Sample at Daily Growler UA. The beer is a slightly cloudy golden color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of floral hops, citrus and toasted malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

22 oz bottle poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Best by May 11, 2016. Mostly clear golden orange with 1-2 fingers of off-white head. Aromas of floral, grapefruit citrus, some sweet onion and garlic, a little pine. Tastes of big floral, grapefruit citrus, pine, grass, some herbs. Medium body with a dry finish. Pretty solid IPA.
