Wheat Beer

Sunshine Wheat combines the refreshing flavors of a Belgian-style witbier with the easy drinkability of an American wheat. This sun-hued ale blends soft, bready malts with a burst of citrus courtesy of orange peel and coriander; a light dose of bittering hops wraps up each sip with a refreshingly clean finish.

Knock back a Sunshine and cheers to the great outdoors.

This wheat poured a slightly cloudy, bright yellow colour with a bright white, frothy head. To the nose there are scents of corn, light yeast and a little hay. First sip was smooth and a little watery with flavours of lemon citrus and corn? Slight sour flavour aswell. Finish is bitter with light lemon cirus hop flavour lingering.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear pale gold with about a finger of white head. Aroma reminds me of fruit loops cereal. Fruity with citrus tones and a little honey. Taste is light sweet. Again, fruit loops with wheat and citrus. Light bodied with a somewhat thick texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. I wouldn’t seek it out but I’ll enjoy this one.

12 oz bottle. Best by Nov. 6, 2011. Pours clear golden with a medium white disappearing head. Aroma consists of bready malt, orange peel; coriander comes through after it warms up a little. Taste is light, crisp and refreshing. It starts out lightly sweet and finishes a little dry. The wheat comes through in flavor. Carbonation is medium-high and the body is thin. This would make an excellent summertime quaffer. It’s a simple yet effective brew. Would be a good lawnmower or throwing horseshoes in the hot summer sun beer.

Tap @ New Belgium hub, DIA. Pours hazy yellow, small white head. Aroma of wheat, lemon, coriands. Taste is lemon, weak wheatcoriands, orangepeel. Thin body, allmost no carbonation. Drinkable, but boring and reminds me more of lemon softdrink than a wheatbeer. 140411
