Our first venture into organically-produced beer, Mothership Wit Organic Wheat Beer elevates the zesty Wit or White beers of Belgium. Our far-flung Beer Rangers affectionately refer to our Fort Collins brewery as the Mothership, a name that conjures images of earth shot from space and the interconnectivity of it all. Mothership Wit is brewed with wheat and barley malt, as well as coriander and orange peel spicing resulting in a balance of citrus and sour flavors held in suspension by a bright burst of carbonation.

Bottle. 22 oz. Frothy white head that slowly disappears above a hazy, pale straw body. The aroma is light with hints of floral hops, lemon, coriander, toasted grain and dust. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes just a little less sweet. Light to medium body with a watery texture and lively carbonation. Passable, but not as clean and crisp as Hoegaarden.

Bottle from Icecody, thanks! Pale blonde, hazy, creamy head. Coreander and orange in the aroma. Citrus flavor (tangerine and lemon) with lots of coreander and a hint of anis. Malty sweetish, medium bodied. A good thirst quencher, and a well made wit.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 8/3/11
Overall Impression: Not a ton to add here, the score stays basically the same no matter the 2 year gap...
Location: Friend picked one up in NC (22 oz bottle), apparently they just started selling it there, vaguely remember drinking it in CO a few years back as well, but this rating is from the recent tasting...3/20/09
Aroma: Strong citrus, mostly lemon
Appearance: Cloudy, light yellow color
Flavor: Sour, lemon, minimal spice, slight orange
Palate: Light body
Overall Impression: Fairly average, hardly interesting, not bad, just not exciting, its a citrus wheat...it is what it is...

courtesy of vasdef42. Pours cloudy golden, thin white head. Aroma citrus, spices of coriander with a light bready nose, regular orange peel and some grainy wheat. Simple. Taste, just typical witbier, the mouthfeel has a good presence of citrus zest, orange peel is light and watered down. Not a bad beer, but nothing groundbreaking.

12 oz. bottle. Poured per instructions on the bottle, we start with a pale, hazy yellow beer, and light wit head. Notes has more coriander than usual, and a little citrus peel to it, almost overdone. A quick swirl of the rest of the bottle, then pour⦠even cloudier body, of course, and a bit more puff in the head. Hmm⦠tastes okay. A wit flavor with wheat spiciness and those added spices, nice small bubbles of carbonation. Lemony tartness. Just needs a bit more oomph to make this competitive with other Belgian wits and their many American counterparts.

12oz bottle. Hazy light yellow color. Pleasant vanilla and orange peel aroma. Smooth and refreshing, almost creamy. There is some citrus in the middle, but it fades into a vanilla wheat finish. Pretty solid American White Ale, worth a try if you are into the style.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow golden color with a small frothe bubbly white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is a strong clove and banana with citrus. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is a sweet fruit and lemon with a dry finish. A decent wit from New Belgium.
