Our first venture into organically-produced beer, Mothership Wit Organic Wheat Beer elevates the zesty Wit or White beers of Belgium. Our far-flung Beer Rangers affectionately refer to our Fort Collins brewery as the Mothership, a name that conjures images of earth shot from space and the interconnectivity of it all. Mothership Wit is brewed with wheat and barley malt, as well as coriander and orange peel spicing resulting in a balance of citrus and sour flavors held in suspension by a bright burst of carbonation.

Lemony grass with banana hints. Milky yellow, thick snow white head, good lacing. Watery, relatively weak for the style. Some coriander notes, but more generically lemon. Not the best wit I’ve had, but the style is hard not to enjoy.

Light golden coloured body, very hazy with a thin white head. Aroma of fresh citrus, lemons, wheat (of course) and some cooling coriander seed freshness. Light-bodied; Fresh wheat and yeast flavour with a touch of spice and curacao as well. Aftertaste shows a lot of a typical light wit, with some bubble gum notes, a touch of banana and a mostly light citrus taste. Overall, good, but nothing amazing - not the best for a cool weather day, but probably great in Denver summers. I sampled this beer on draught at Falling Rock Tap House in Denver, Colorado on 14-February-2010.

11th October 2008. GABF. Hazy pale gold beer. Crisp and dry palate. A little fruit and a little bubblegum but the overy dry palate is too distracting.

12 oz bottle. Very nice aroma--spicy, full of wheat, citrus. Pours pale, pale yellow with a quickly dissipating head, good lacing. Tastes like a well-made wit. Carbonation is medium. Just a tad watery. One of New Belgium’s better beers, and one, unlike Fat Tire, that actually tastes somewhat Belgian. With its namesake, the brewery should focus more on styles (like this one) from the country that initially inspired it to begin production in the first place, rather than boring mass-appeal craft beers like the aforementioned Fat Tire. (As a sidenote, I think that’s what they’re trying to do with the Lips of Faith series, which makes me happy.)

Bottle. Lemon/orange peel, coriander, sour milk malt aroma. Cloudy pale yellow color with small head. Sweet lemon/orange, coriander, clove and malt flavor. Nicely made - on the sweet side. Excellent wit.

12oz bottle:
Appearance: Pours a cloudy light yellow (lemonade?) with very little bit of white head and some lace in the glass
Aroma: Banana and citrus Taste: Bready, banana and citrus flavors. Finishes with a sour aftertaste.
Overall: Maybe it would have been better if I would have put some fruit on the glass :)

Bottle. Poured gold with a decently thick white head. Aroma was grainy with a bit of underlying citrus. Flavor was light with sweet wheat notes as well as a bit of citrus. Quite heavily carbonated for my liking.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy yellow with afully gone head. Aroma is dry estery and wheaty. Estery and wheaty fruity flavoured with a vague acidic touch. Ends with a light bitterness and acidic touch.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours a hazy and opaque pale yellow with a dense white head leaving laces. Slight citrus in the nose. Medium body with yeast dominating. Dry and somewhat astringent finish. A different - if not exactly more exciting - take on a Belgian Wit. 060709
