Fortunate Islands combines the bangin' hop aroma of an über-tropical IPA with the crisp, deeply quenching drinkability of a killer pale ale. We achieve this magical result by starting with a mild, nutty malt backbone, then dry-hopping the bejesus out of it with Citra and Amarillo hops. Restrained bitterness and vibrant notes of mango, tangerine, and passionfruit combine to form a sessionable crusher of mind-bending proportions. It tastes like wizards.

16 oz can picked from their assorted 4 pack picked up for me when furiousdman was in San Diego. Nose is a tropical forest; floral, mango, pine, and tangerine; all that was missing was some banana (wheat ale?).clear orange gold with a medium white head. Flavor is pretty bitter and lightly nutty. Smells pretty goood but flavor is almost all bitterness.

Draft at Pacific Beach Fish Shop - San Diego, CA. An awesome hoppy wheat beer. Loaded with citrus and lightly pissy hops. Great balance. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Great balance to finish, moderate pale wheat sweetness with plenty of juicy hops. Super drinkable.

Can from Bine & Vine. Pours translucent gold with a slight white head. Mixed fruit aroma. Lots of fruit. Med body more or less. There’ tropical fruit and citrus. I can believe mango. I thing there’s some barley, but whether or not, I think it would have been better as a non-wheat. I just don’t think wheat supports the flavors. Pretty hoppy beer tho. Finishes hoppy and well towards dry.

Can without an indicated freshness date (would love to see them add that). Pours with a mildly hazed golden hued body with a large white head. Aromas are of tropical fruit, mango, citrus, tangelo, light resiny hops, with some crackery and toasted malt. Minimal esters. Flavors are of toasted grain, mild melanoidin like sweetness (very light), medium bitter with a slightly bitter balance, citrusy with tropical fruit. Easy drinking and quite good. Moderate carbonation, dry.

Slightly hazy golden orange pour. Nose is loaded with tropical hops and grapes. Nice taste. Very bright with orange, citrus and clementine rinds. Not a huge amount of wheat.

16 oz. can shared by Adam Jackson. Hazy gold in color without much head. Nose is indeed tropical fruits with a great amounts of Citra in aroma and taste. Mangos, peaches, star fruit and hints of grapefruit. Bitterness linger just slightly and balanced well with malts. Really is highly drinkable, very tasty. Damn nice to try.

Can. Wow, I cannot believe this beer is not getting better ratings. It drinks almost as good as Zombie Dust or Pseudo Sue and is sub 5%. This beer should be tearing up the Wheat Ale style. Pour is crystal clear orange with a small white head and good lacing. Aroma is CITRA! tropical citrus, grapefruit, passionfruit, lovely. Flavor is the same, lightly sweet and lightly bitter, no real wheat notes present, but wonderful fruity hoppiness. Amazingly full bodied for a 5%er, oily in the mouth. Fuck yeah.

On tap at Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens. It pours a clear golden body and a dense, small white head. Sweet fruity flavor with peaches and orange. Lightly sweet flavor with orange and apricot. Quite sweet on the palate, yet feeling dry. Pleasant carbonation. Bitter, orange tasting finish. Way too sweet and boring this one. 130817
