Our friends over at Kentucky’s own Willett Distillery have one kind of barrel: wood. And they put two things in them: Bourbon and Rye. We were fortunate enough to get some of their Bourbon barrels, and we put a special coffee-fied version of our Imperial Stout in them.

12 oz. bottle shared by TJ, spilt 2 ways. Thank you much. Pitch black color thin white head. Aroma is spicy rye, coffee, chocolate. The flavor is very nice: chocolate nuanced throughout, mild lasting coffee, spicy rye in the finish. Good body and texture has a dry oak. Well worth whatever a six pack cost!

Booze smoothes over as you consume. Bourbon, chocolate. Very good. Especially on a 9° night.

Bottle. Pours inky black, medium creamy tan head, dissipates slowly with good retention and lacing. Aroma is fairly prominent rye whiskey, leather, cocoa, molasses, coffee. Flavor is light plus sweet, medium bitter, kinda boozy, restrained coffee. Fullish body. Pretty damn good for a commodity 12 oz bottle.

12 ounce bottle thanks to hershiser2, who enjoyed it so much he ended up with a case! Thanks for sharing one with me! Black, large creamy dark brown head, good retention. Aroma of strong whiskey, cherries, vanilla, oak. Taste is roast, coffee, vanilla, whiskey, cocoa, mild cherries. Full bodied, booze will hidden, smooth. Very nice.

Pretty good barrel-aged Imperial Stout. In the aroma I get lots of cocoa and dark malt No coffee. In the flavor it's mainly sweet throughout tempered with some bitterness hints of coffee the barrel aging comes in the Finish along with a little bit of booziness. Excellent body and finish.

12 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is loaded with whiskey barrels upfront, with heavy coffee, and a touch of cocoa. Flavour reveals lots of whiskey barrels upfront, followed by loads of coffee and light cocoa. Very nice coffee and whiskey barrel character. Excellent.
