A modern Amber Ale for everyone. American hops pair with a traditional British malt base and yeast profile to give this local favourite a distinctly modern twist. Caramel, toffee, honey & hazelnut combined with a malty backbone make this an incredibly well balanced amber ale.

Cask at the bow bar. Pours clear amber with a thin off-white head. Aromas of citrus, toffee. Taste is light sweet at first, then a tropical fruit bitter finish. Nice, if a little thin.

500ml bottle. Clear, orangey amber colour with small, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, off-white head. Cautious, citrusy hoppy aroma, hints of grapefruit and gooseberry, some mandarine, malty background with a nuttily biscuit touch. Taste is minimally fruity, bitter hoppy, hints of gooseberry and kiwi, dry, husky, biscuity and minimally nuttily malty basis; slightly chalky and minimally nuttily finish.

Bottle at home, from Ales By Mail, 14/03/15. Hazed golden amber with a decent beige covering that retains well. Nose is biscuit, fresh grass, orange notes, light spice, hint of passionfruit. Taste comprises earthy hops, straw, bitter orange, tangerine, toasted malt. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with subtle hop bitterness. Decent bitter, hop forward with a touch of tropicana.

Cask at the Euston tap. Light amber colour with a cascading creamy off white head. Aroma is light caramel nutty malts with a little touch of pine resin. Palate is wonderfully smooth and perfect cask condition. Flavour is medium caramel, base malts with grassy piney hop. Wonderfully balanced and very very drinkable. Little lingering spicy hop and light caramel malts.

Bottle. Nose is butterscotch, red berry, slight biscuit. No head looks grim. Taste is butterscotch leading to berries then a very slight hop lift in the short too dry finish. Mouthfeel is too thin. It;s a reasonable bitter.

On cask at the Grosvenor. Appearance - amber with a nice head. Nose - herbs pine and a touch but just a touch of toffee. Taste - creamy orange with again just a touch of biscuit. Almost like an orange cheesecake. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - an enjoyable bitter even if Iād have enjoyed more biscuits.
