Vestkyst er eit så kraftig humla øl at dei fine, fruktige smaksnyansane frå den opne gjæringa blir meir kamuflerte. Maltblandinga av pale ale malt og to sortar karamellmalt er viktige for å balansere humlen. All humle blir tilsett siste halvtimen av kokinga, noko som løftar smak og aroma på ølet. Etter primærgjæringa blir ølet tørrhumla i tanken i 9 dagar med Amarillo, Cascade, Simcoe og Zeus, før det blir tappa på flasker og fat for naturleg karbonering. Vestkyst har henta namnet sitt frå amerikanske indiaøl og frå det faktum at Kinn Bryggeri er lokalisert i den vestlegaste byen i Noreg. Den kraftige humlesmaken står godt til krydra mat og faktisk også til pinnekjøt av lam. Prøv også Vestkyst til blåmuggost og til gulrotkake!

Flaska av god vän, inköpt i Bergen. Mörkt bärnstensfärgad utan nämnvärt skum. Avslagen, trött doft. Går att urskilja deg och torrt hö. Smaken är lika besviken. Svag karamell och riktigt trött humle.

750ml bottle @ Ølhus København. Thx Jookos. Deep amber color, thin off white head. Resin, malty, hoppy, dark fruity aroma. Flavor has caramel, fruits, sweetness, dark fruits. Massive. Herbal hoppy finish. Yeah. Another good brew from this brewery.

Flaska från SB. Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell med toner av torkad frukt, örter, aprikos och apelsin. Fruktig, rund och len, mycket fin maltsötma, bra balans, fin beska med smak av granskott, citrus och grapefrukt.

(750ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours a completely murky milkshake like brownish amber. Aroma is resinous pine, citrus peel, grassy, bread and moderate caramel. Flavour is citrus pith, pine, resin, grapefruit, bread/biscuit malt, moderate caramel sweetness. Pretty big pine/herbal bitterness building in the middle, a bit astringent but not too harsh. Finish fairly dry, a touch yeasty, herbal and pine hops lingering for a while, bitter. Medium full, average carbonation. Not a bad IPA but definitely not an exceptional one, not very fruity or aromatic compared to most. Drinks decently well.

Hazy amber-ish color with a fine tan head. Quite fruity aroma with a lot of citric hops. Also some weird notes there. Medium to full body. Medium carbonation. A bit unbalanced sweetness. Bready, hoppy, tropical and a bit medicinal flavor. This batch was not very inviting. Have had others before that were a lot better.

On tap at UNA Bryggeri, pours a cloudy murky dark orange with a small beige head. Nose brings out lots of resinous hops and quite a lot of caramel bready malt as well. Flavour is on the sweet side, with cough syrup, candied fruits and resinous hops. A bit on the sweet, medicinal side of things. Kind of surprised to see such high ratings on this. It's alright, but not my thing.
