Description
Born in the back streets of Fitzroy, Little Smith Brewing was first conceived by a group of bartenders looking to create beers to drink after their shift. Their search for a perfect knock off led them to a home brewing kit, and eventually, after a couple of miss-steps, the Bastard Son American Pale Ale was born.
Looking to reference the suburb that birthed their beer, the name of the Bastard Son APA harks back to medieval times, when the (often illegitimate) offspring of the ruling King would be given the name “Fitzroy”. Our own spawn, the Bastard Son may have been initially unintended, but now we are very proud to call it ours. The lion on the label is the symbol of the illustrious suburb we call home, and we think he’s rather a handsome bastard.
