From 1597 onwards the castle of Reckendorf had a tap and brewing license, which has existed and been exercised continuously since that time. The castle fell into disrepair, but the brewery and restaurant were preserved. In 1930 Georg Dirauf leased both the brewery and the restaurant and bought both in 1952. After Dirauf's death, his daughter Lonia Eichhorn ran the company. Her successor was her son Dominik Eichhorn who is thecurrent brewmaster. In 2018 a new brewhouse for 70 hl per day was put into operation.
