Description
The legendary Green Man has existed for centuries but it’s no myth that he’s been brewing great beer in Asheville since 1997. As one of North Carolina’s original breweries, Green Man has been producing some of the beer scene’s most iconic ales. Our offerings are consistently recognized for quality as well as loyalty to traditional English styles. Additionally, our brewers strive to bring innovative and exciting new flavors to beer loving folks.

Now open! Continuing our evolution we have constructed a 3 story, 20,000 square ft., packaging hall, a “brewtique”, and an indoor/outdoor top floor taproom that overlooks production and the Blue Ridge Mountains! It is right here on the South Slope, next to “Dirty Jack’s” (which is still open) and our production brewery.

10 August 2019. At Belgian Beer Geek Tasting. Cheers to the crew, thanks for hosting, Tim! Hazy black, lasting, thin, dark beige head. Aroma of fondant, coffee bean, black pepper, chili sauce, fig, beef jerky, toast. Taste is light to medium malty sweet, chocolatey with a hint of vanilla, bitter black pepper, coffee & spices battling with umami soy & black olive, vague sour undertone of dark fruit. Dry, peppery hoppy finish, lingering toast, cinnamon & chili, some warming coffee liqueur-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Nicely balanced but could have been even stronger tastewise.

Pink and purple tinted light golden coloured body with a thinnish, almost pure white head. Aroma of berries, which, if i'm not mistaken - seem tart. Scents of cranberries, blueberries and definitely a good dose of raspberries (hence the tartness) with some light sweetness noticeable, a ton of wheat and not much else - very nice aroma. Light-bodied; Pungent tart and wheatie flavours with a very dry, but increasingly fruity and tart bite, all from fruit with some softer wheat and yeast finishes, but the fruit dominates and this remains very easy-drinking throughout. Aftertaste shows the tart grasses, dry notes and especially fruit with cranberries and raspberries dominating everything. Overall, a very easy-drinking, wheat focused beer with a dry and tart fruit finish that shows a little sweetness, but this is mainly dry and very nice, crisp and elegant throughout. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Knightly Spirits in Orlando (Orange Blossom Trail), Florida on 19-April-2019 for US$3,32 sampled while watching the fireworks over the capital of our great country in Washington on 04-July-2019.
