Description

Attempts to gush, then stops. Small white head doesn’t last. Hazy amber body with carbonation. Grainy, strawy aroma, doesn’t feel quite right. Sweet-sour earthy wooden wild berries taste. Obviously infected, and all out of sorts. FFS. So far three out of three beers from this brewery have been infected. (0.5l bottle, from Meny Oslo City.)

Flaske 0,5l. Batch 74. Gave fra Rune. Ekstremt mørkebrun. Uklar. Pent tett, litt farget skum. God baconaroma. Smaken er stikkende syrlig med et medisinsk preg. Ikke god. Hvis smaken er tilsiktet er dette ikke bra. Gjetter på en infeksjon.

0.5l bottle from #0075. I guess you can't really describe this as anything else than black-as-coffee looking. It also has a nice medium sized bubbly deep beige head. On the nose I get lots of cardboard and cold coffee. A faint cocoa dryness and there are hints if sour wood. Pretty OK except for that cardboard and the sour wood. Traces of dry licorice as well. Oh, it has lots of that cardboard in the taste also! Lots and lots actually. In the mouth it has a light oily, almost thin feeling and it's soft almost flat on the carbonation. Lots of mouthdrying green bananas, soft sour wood, a dark ashy roastiness and a little bit of sour eggs. Hmm.. This almost tastes like it has been left out in the sun way to long. Grows a tad on you after a while, but not a very pleasant one unfortunately. 01.03.2014

Sampled from a 0.5l bottle @ RBNG 2014 from #0065. This is a light cloudy looking orangy golden one with only a small sidesticking bright white top. Kinda herbal and branchy nose on this. A little bit of sharp yeast with tones of hay and grains. Not horrible, but mild. Tastes quite yeasty in a way. Feels light oily in the mouth and it's quite soft on the bubbles. Lots of hay and some slightly source tones all the way in the back. Fair enough I'd say. 15.02.2014

0.5l bottle from #0053. My first from this brewer! Doesn't start off too good really. Not even a swoop when popping the cap, and pouring it in the glass reveals my fear that this is a flat one. Not even a filmy little head, just one or two translucent bubbles. Like a Cask beer almost. The beer itself is cloudy and deep golden almost a little dark orange in color. Smells fruity and really peach sweet. Lilt canned peach juices with tropical and grassy hints. A tad of citrus perhaps. Not bad. Yeah, this is like drinking straight from the cask. Dead flat, way to sweet and it has a gliding slick feeling in the mouth. Sweet fruity in the taste as well. I get a little bit of alcohol and sulphur. Hmm.. What to say. I doubt it was intended to be like this, but as a cask beer it could have been alright. One of those bottles I probably would return and demand a new one if I was in a bar. Pouring almost half the bottle down the drain it reveals a shitload of murky brown yeast. Almost half the bottle full of yeast and hops residues. A not to promising start. 27.01.2014

Sampled from a 0.5l bottle from #0061 @ RBNG 2014. Looks really cloudy and almost a little murky in the glass this. Really really pale yellow and golden in the looks and it only has a tiny filmy and sidesticking white top. Smells of yeast, sweet wheat and hay. There is also a little herbal tone here. Not to pleasant to be honest. Green grass and a dryness. Tastes fair. It's quite grainy in the taste. Lots of wheat, but it's not as dry ad the aroma suggested. A slight sourness that I suspect shouldn't be here is also found. To weird to really be enjoyed. 15.02.2014

0.5l bottle from #0089. This one pours a cloudy orangey looking body under a small really bubbly bright white and slowly sidesticking head. It has a sweet juicy fruity melon nose. Lots of sweetness, sugary with canned peaches and cardboard. Not extreme in any direction but quite sweet. It doesn't taste all that good. It's really dry and grainy. Like drinking straw water. It's as good as flat on the carbonation and it has a thin gliding oily feeling in the mouth. Bah, this really didn't want taste all that good - or ANY good for that matter. I was in the mood for a late pale ale so I took this, but this doesn't taste like a pale ale at all. More like a grain soup with thin watery fruits and a slightly acidic hint in the background. Have experienced this a lot in the beers from this brewer. Still waiting for that one beer I actually like.. Did not finish the bottle. Or the glass for that matter. 15.04.2014

0.5l bottle from #0074. In the glass this is deep and dark, want to call it ruby red-ish, but it's also quite brown. The little head on top is bubbly, quickly sidesticking and beige in color. Yeah, it's most definitely smoky on the nose! Birch woody, sweet and beefy with a tad of licorice and campfire. Yeah, campfire is a nice word to describe this aroma. I'm not a huge smoked - sweet smoked guy, but this smells quite alright. In the taste it's both sour, smoked and sweet. All at once! However, the most impression that sticks is sour. Is it supposed to taste like this? Not sure, but it has some good qualities. It's not directly full-bodied, but it has a light gliding mouthfeel with a below average carbonation level. Traces of both chocolate and dried meat. The sourness is however the main impression I get from this one. Well, along with the woody beefy smoked new of course. 31.01.2014
