(can) clear, bright yellow colour with a small white head; aroma of cereal, jam; balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish; not bad for this generally bland variety

12 oz. can from HEB in Boerne, TX. Pours a hazy gold color with a white head and good retention. Almost no lacing. Blueberry aroma, as expected. Sweet, natural tasting blueberry flavor in a solid wheat base. Smooth and clean. Medium body and medium carbonation. No bitterness. Tasty, and easily repeatable.

Bottled. Slightly hazy yellowish golden colour, creamy small white longlasting head. Aroma is grainy, wheaty, cinnamon and some zest. Sweetish wheaty and malty, with some honey, some spiciness and zest. A bit too spicy for my taste.

From a 12 oz can. Pours a clear gold with an off white head. Aromas of honey and citrus. Flavors are a combination of sweet caramel and bitter citrus.

12 oz can from Total Wine - San Antonio. Pours a very dark amber color with a khaki head and fair retention. Very few spots of lacing. Caramel malt aroma. Likewise, the flavor is caramel-forward, with more caramel and some toffee in the finish. Very sweet. Needs more carbonation. Unbalanced. Light body. Kinda watery mouthfeel. No bitterness. Okay, but a bit weak.

Clear gold with a small white head. Bready with some green pepper. Green pepper with a touch of bread. Doesn't do the pepper justice.

12 oz. can from Leaf & Barrel, New Braunfels, TX. Pours a semi clear pale gold color with a small fizzy white head and fair retention. No lacing. Light citrus aroma. Tastes like a pale lager with a faint citrus flavor in the finish. Crisp start, flat finish. Light body. No offensive flavors, but this is a weak blonde ale.

Always ready to rate a Kolsch. I got Backyard Bee in a four pack mixer at Christmas. There is a snifter out for this tasting, I see a lemon yellow liquid followed by a strong head of white foam that subsides fairly promptly. A sweetish scent with grain and dew. The drink is a slightly sweet kolsch, I get that. A little lemon, grain and the honey making its entry. Enjoyable.
