Tap @ brewery. Dark red brown, transparent appearance with a tiny, almost nonexistent head. Light caramel, toffee malty, earthy hoppy aroma. Mildly rich toffee, organic, bitter hoppy flavor with a weird celery, pepper veggie taste going on- not sure if this is an off taste or a derivative of the hops but it’s not desirable. Fuck, maybe they didn’t wash my glass well enough after serving someone a pepper beer in this glass. Anyways, the veggie thing along with a very mild maltiness turns me off to it. There must be some kind of cross contamination going on.

On the surface, this is a pretty darn good IPA - a chewy, medium sweet malt backbone serves to temper a seriously spicy hop bite and long lingering notes of citrus and pine - however, the smoked malt is a little odd and off-putting - at first, it almost tastes like an off phenol until the brain adjusts - instead of adding, it just gets in the way of an otherwise solid IPA - shame.

Tap @ brewery. Dark black appearance with a light brown head. Sweet, dark chocolate, mild to moderately milky, chocolate malty nose. Sweet, milky, dark chocolate, sweet malty flavor. Pretty good milk stout, especially considering that the 9% abv is hidden well. My favorite dark beer by these guys so far.

Tap @ brewery. Deep black appearance with a foamy, brown head. Slightly roasty, dark chocolate, sweet dark malty nose. Fairly bitter, espresso, roasty dark chocolate malty with a touch of fruits in the flavor. Roasty, almost burnt chocolate malty aftertaste. A little disappointing.

Tap @ brewery. Beautiful dark red violet appearance with a tan head. Sweet dark red fruity, sweet malty, mild earthy hoppy nose. Big caramel, dark fruity flavor with some piney hops and a warming finish. Fairly smooth but the flavor is a little tame.

Tap @ brewery. Dark orange appearance with a cream colored head with little head retention. Roasty, dark coffee grounds that mostly mask the other elements of the nose. Roasty, almost burnt, dark coffee ground over a slight piney, sweet malty flavor. The coffee grounds really dominate the flavor and that’s not an attraction in my mind. Not horrible either.

Tap @ brewery. Dark amber orange appearance with an off white head. Nice, sweet, creamy, caramel malty, very light piney nose. Slight piney hoppy, sweet, light citrusy, caramel malty flavor that’s a touch watery. Pretty good.

Tap at the brewery - nearly black pour, with a sticky tan lace - intense nose of molasses, coffee, bittersweet chocolate, light smoke - slick mouthfeel, with a light body for the abv (seems to be a trend with these guys) - farily dry for the abv - some light roast and espresso, but quite a bit of bittersweet chocolate - some anise and light woodsmoke - lingering woody character and coffee in the finish - the best beer I have had from these guys - finally, a stand out beer from this brewery.

Tap at the brewery - apparently made here by a local home brewer - very cloudy, milk gold - nose is very yeasty and doughy, covering up the usual spiciness you expect from the style - some hay and lemon zest - quite tangy and dry, belying the abv - very yeasty - tangy notes of lemon and lime - light flint and mineral - lightly peppery phenols - I do not taste the typical wit spices, but I enjoy the flavor none-the-less - floral finish - decent.

Tap at Renegade - hazy amber pour - fairly thick lace for th abv - nose of sticky toffee and caramel - medium bodied, a bit light-bodied for the style and abv, making it too easy to drink - a lot of bright fruitiness up front - mango, orange, cherry - the middle brings some caramel, lightly earthy/woody hops, some spicy character - peppery alcohol in the finish, but all things considered, the abv is masked well - decent, just needs a bit more heft and complexity to make it a proper sipper, as something of this abv needs to be.
