On tap at Laurelwood, Portland. Copper colour with lasting off white head. Grapefruit aroma, but juicy fruity aroma. Bit of cereal. My first rye IPA. Flavour has juicy cereal something. Bit of honey, some tangerine/lime. Full in mouth, sherberty finish. Huge flavours, but they’re not unbalanced. Lacks a bit in the body. Just a little thinness. Stunning flavours though.

On tap at Laurelwood, Portland. Black with tan head. Tarry stout. Lots of choc/coffee/charcoal. Good bitterness on end. Bit too smokey charcoal for me.

On tap at Laurelwood, Portland. Black with dark brown edges. Tan head. Lovely porter aroma. Sligtly sour choc/malt. Very velvety choc/coffee in mouth. More choccy than I would expect. Nice. Some sour edge, bit of charcoal powder. Great balance. Loved the aroma on this so much I had to give it a 10. Again I had this 2 days later and it didn’t disappoint.

On tap at Laurelwood, Portland. Copper with lasting off white head. Attractive sherbert hop aroma. OK, so it’s an IPA, a proper PNW one, so you have boat loads of sherberty hop, especially on end. Still slightly nettley. Has moderate malt to supoort it, but hop is extreme. But it is lovely. I had another pint a couple of nights later and still enjoyed it.

On tap at Laurelwood, Portland. Chestnut colour with beige head. Smokey hop. Not much like a German alt bier, except maybe the malt is. Hoppy aroma, bit of fruit. Malts are alright. Just a touch of sourness, then coffee flavour. Again a tad nettley. It’s got great hops, but an alt?

On tap at Laurelwood, Portland. Gold, lasting beige head. Great pale ale. Bit woody. Good pale malt. Love the hop on this, Cascadey, but not out of balance. Nettley. Mouthfeel is creamy and then good astringent balanced finish. Great nettly bite on finish.

On tap at Laurelwood, Portland. Hazy gold with thin off white head. Lovely light grapefruit aroma. Bit of yeastiness. Really rather light and nice even though it is 5.1% Very pleasant. Bit thin on the malts, bit of spice/herb

On tap at Pilsener Room and also Laurelwood, Portland. My favourite beer of my 2 week travels of the PNW. I came here with no love of amber ales, and this not only changed my mind, but completely won me over. Copper/amber with lasting beige head. Lovely hop. Good creamy feel in mouth with malts. Nice hop finish. Makes you want to drink more. It was so good, I bought the T shirt. I drank more of this than anything else I tried.

Orange-amber colour. Hoppy aroma - herbal (oregano, thai basil), floral, leafy and for some reason canned peaches and sesame seeds as well. Chewy crystal, biscuit (?) malts and woody, pithy hops. Like most beers billed as being triple-digit IBUs, this is past saturation point and ends up being not all that bitter after all.
