Tap. Pours clear yellow gold, small white head, dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is grassy, pepper, yeast, honey, clove. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, a bit weird on the finish. Lingering lemon zest bitterness. Medium body. Meh.

19th March 2014, San Diego’s old Fish Market Bar, sat on the terrace facing the bay sunning ourselves. One of five beers that we took during a leisurely afternoon. Clear, almost straw blonde in colour with a white covering for a head. Mild citrus front to the nose and taste, obviously an American take on a Belgian Ale because it tastes nothing like what I was expecting (being a Brit who visits Belgium on a regular basis). I did however enjoy it, some hints of yeastiness within the flavours made it semi-interesting and I found it easy to drink while watching the water lap against the shore.

This beer is a pale yellow gold color, moderately to mildly hazy and has a somewhat fizzy white head. Some lacing, good retention, I guess - it’s a bar pour. Aroma has a bright, sweet hop flavor. Fairly juicy. Sweet lemon, mild pineapple, mango, big tangerine, raspberry. Little to no malt character. Taste has similar bright hops on a dry malt background. A touch sharp from the dryness. Bitterness is medium to moderate. Very clean in the finish. Easy to drink. Carbonation is on the high side. A little bit fizzy. Excellent hoppy beer. Very West Coast.

Pours black with a mocha cap, pretty dark, bourbon khaki, good lacing and retention. Rich aroma, mounds of chocolate, burnt caramel, roast, dark bread, chocolatey coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, some milk chocolate, very good. Big rich taste to match the aroma, lots of chocolate, roast and coffee flavor, particularly big on mocha-ish chocolate coffee flavor, moderate but lasting sweetness, mild hop and roast bitterness in the finish. Mouth coating feel, smooth and oily, long finish.

Keg at Pizza Port Carlsbad, 21/04/14. Clear pale golden blonde with a moderate off white covering. Nose is grapefruit, orange pith, straw, peach, light mango. Taste comprises grapefruit, citric pithdom, tangy orange, pine, mango, grass. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close laced with hop bitterness. Solid APA.

Keg at Monkey Paw tasting room, 21/04/14. Clear pale golden with a good sized white head that retains well. Nose is mango, citric rind, straw, mandarin, light floral effect, sweet tones. Taste comprises light skunky hoppage, pine, orange pith, light spice, grass, mandarin. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dank hop bitterness in the finale. Decent IPA.

On tap @ the Field Gaslamp, bright yellow with a nice white head, slightly cloudy, really mouth watering appearance. Aroma is tropical fruit, floral, big hop nose, grapefruit, some bread. Taste is the same, doesn’t quite live up to the aroma, but still very appetizing, nice bitter finish.

On tap at City Beer, February 2014. Hazy golden with a medium white head. Fresh with citrus, resin and tropical fruit. Also some light notes of hay and malt. Not bad at all.
