10th rating, makin thus shit legit. Thick dark amber color for my sampler. Aroma is as promised candi (I wonder what Jack tastes like). Nit too strong, clean behind that, no crazy esters. Flavor has a butter melding of the candi with heft Belgian malts. Its a good stab at a Belgian. No crazy esters but not enough to balance the sweet.

Sampler at brewpub. Light clear golden color. This is an amped up English Pale Ale, I would change the style.on here. Well done for that purpose. Lots of bitterness of these EKGs, nicely done. Very clean malt backbone. Again a mix if British and American and that part isn’t my thing.

Sampler at brewpub. This is one of those American ESBs, you know full of hops. This one has particularly lots of hops, an offense to the style I haven’t experienced in a while. The hops are nice, sweet bubblegum hops, my tav. Once my nostrils adjust I can pick up the British dusty malts and toasty character. Same in taste, lots of awesome hops that are fresh and once I get passed the strong bitterness I taste the toasty dusty malts. Frankly I don’t want those two styles mixed but its done as the brewer intended. No complaints there just nit my scene.

Big Time thanks to riversideAK for this Big Time growler. It pours with a clear deep copper body that has gold edges and supports a thin white head. The aroma offers up notes of sweet malts, prunes, a dried toffee sensation and then thin smooth soft bourbon. The taste begins with prunes and then semi sweet banana notes. Behind the initial fruitiness are notes of caramel sweetness and some pleasing toffee goodness that is mixed in amongst grainy malts. Into the finish the booze and bourbon help take this to the after taste. Nice smooth easy sipping Barleywine.

Hazy golden coloured body with a hint of some orange glows and a nice proper two centimetre tall white head. Aroma of nice citrusey and piney hops with a good malt nose and a little yeast as well. Medium-bodied; Fresh hop flavour with a good balance of malt and some sweetness from caster sugar on the tail end, but the hops end piney and a bit floral. Aftertaste shows a nice subtle hop flavour, but more malts are noticeable than from before. Overall, a solid IPA with less of a focus on the big hops, and more on the balance - which works well! I sampled this pint on draught, while shopping for more beer, at Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington for US$4.00 on 10-February-2013.

Bottle at the lobby. Sweet fruits on the nose. Big sweet flavor, light dry fruits, sugary bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, sugary bread, caramel. Good sipper.

On tap at Brouwer's Caf� for Big Wood '12, pours an opaque golden orange with a small beige head. Aroma of whiskey barrels, wheat and light fruits. Flavour is very sweet and boozy, with apple and pear juice, loads of whiskey barrels, dark fruits and wheat. The light body from the wheat is still presence. Quite complex and quite whiskey-pronounced. Very boozy and sweet as well. OK, but flawed.

On tap at Old Town Ale House, pours a dark orangey amber with a small beige head. Aroma and flavour both of caramel malts, brown sugar and some metallic notes that are slightly off-putting. Not too sweet and if ideal, this would be quite well-balanced, though not the deepest barley wine. Maybe something wong with the keg. Decent, nevertheless.

Tap at Brouwer’s Cafe, Seattle - 08/11/12. Dark black with a thin dark tan head. Nose is light chocolate, roast malt, touch of dark fruits, molasses, leather. Tastes follows nose, emphasis on the dark fruits, backed up by chocolate and roast malts. Medium bodied with soft carbonation leading to a roasty finish.
