750mL bottle from atxdelivery, thanks Josh. Shared with a few friends, poured into a Hebrew anniversary small glass. Pours is super foamy, the rising, bubbly kind, atop a dark dark brown, almost black color. Whiskey dominating the aroma without overpowering and making it aversive. Flavor is similar with a good, not sugary, pretty well attenuated despite the high alcohol, porter underneath. You could have not used any pecans because nothing was apparent at all. The barrel aging has thinned the beer out and the stronger carbonation makes for a less integrated mouthfeel. The beer is kind of nothing special, its good not bad but not all for me. Eh.

On tap at the Petrol Station. Pours a very dark brown with a small beige head that lasts awhile leaving good sticky lacing. The aroma is a raisin malt and light roast. Medium mouthfeel with a smoke and coffee flavor. Easy to drink hiding the alcohol well. A very good black IPA from 512.

Flavors of mocha, dirt, earth, dark fruits and dried fruits. Some brown sugar and persimmons as well. Medium carbonation. A much better beer than the ratings show. Much better...

Enjoyed in the Dallas area while on business. Cask version. Aroma of rich malts, caramel, slight hops, might be skewered since its cask conditioned. Appearance huge white head, very cloudy gold. Taste more citrusy hops, I can sense more hops than malt but it tastes more like a hoppy APA than an IPA. Definite yeast presence, kind of doughy, I like it a lot but I’m not in love. Would definitely have again not conditioned.
