Description
Fat Lizard Brewing Co. is a Finnish Indie brewery specializing in super fresh and drinkable American-style beers.
We’re located in Otaniemi, in the very heart of Espoo. As the first commercial brewery ever in Espoo, the company was founded by four fellows – Hessu, Topo, Topi and Eero – in 2014 and has been operative since February 2015. Today the brewery staff includes 15 irreplaceable characters altogether.
After many years of homebrewing and heavy testing, the recipes were just too good to keep for ourselves. It was time to build a brewhouse in Kivenlahti Rock Bay. Two years of constant sold-out storage left no beer for ourselves. So we moved on and expanded in Otaniemi with a decent sized brewing equipment going nationwide.
Now our beer portfolio contains various styles of craft beer, all made in our extraordinary way of brewing. Including internationally acclaimed gems. Drink more, drink better!

Draught @ BrewDog Gbg. Pours brownish black with a frothy beige head that leaves some sparse trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly malty and fruit estery with burnt cookies, dark bread, baked pears, marzipan, glue, paint thinner and burnt raisins. Taste is slightly sweet, tiny bitter, tiny sour, malty and fruity estery. Mouthfeel is soft, round, slightly dry, tiny spicy astringent and light to medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and slightly bitter with crispbread, burnt cookies, baked pears, marzipan, hay, moist soil, black pepper corns and lemon zest. Awful volatile estery nose but the taste actually works. Ok roast and suiting yeasty spice but still too damn estery. --- Beer merged from original tick of BrewDog Helsinki Total BS on 27 Oct 2015 at 19:43 - Score: 5

(Keg at BrewDog Helsinki, 20151019) The beer poured clear and black. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had coconut, fruitiness and spiciness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, spiciness, sweetness, coconut, burnt malts and bitterness. Afteraste had sweetness, coconut and bitterness. Oh the coconut and coconut and coconut. It just annoys me way too much.

Tap at Black Door, Helsinki. Colour is black with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Burned malts, fruits, spices, Belgian yeast and malts. Interesting but can’t say that I like this one. Why everyone hates sorachi ace?

Draught. Opaque black liquid with medium light tan head. Aroma of jenka, grain, tangerine, dried fruit, coffee, white pepper and dill. Taste is dry and light bitter with notes of light ash, jenka, white pepper, fruit and light dill. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Decent if a bit ambivalent style wise.

Draught @Brewdog Helsinki. Poured black with a thin off white head. Ripe apricots, hops, floral notes and dill later on. Apricots, some sourness, citrus and salty notes. Quite interesting. Semisweet finish.

Draught @ Black Door, Helsinki. Pours dark brown, almost black with a smooth head. Aroma of dill, roasty malts, spices, yeast and stuffy notes. Taste is messy with some stuffy yeastiness, sweetish notes, dill, bubblegum and yeast. Finish is stuffy, yeasty and mildly roasty with some hints of dill and syrup. Not very balanced, and I’m not a big fan of Sorachi Ace.
