Description
Mike Hess Brewing is one of the premier craft breweries of San Diego. We set out with a mission to bring people together over great beer and were early on in the craft beer revolution. We were the region’s 33rd brewery back in 2010 when our first location, then a nano-brewery, in Miramar was opened. Now, in our 10th year, we have 5 locations in California, including the “OG” spot, which has since tripled in size!

On tap at The Beer Company. Lasting head and lacing. Orange amber, very faint aroma, rye sourness and hop bitterness both catch your attention, and there seems te room on the palate for both. Interesting beer.

Underwhelming. Only thing right is the consistency, mouth feel. Aroma and taste fail to meet the marks. Nice malty backbone, but too late in the game.

16oz can pours with a crystal clear gold body that has thin copper hues and supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up grapefruit, tangelo, a bit of mango and spicy hops with a decent degree of malty sweetness in the background. The taste quickly gets into juicy citrus that’s grapefruit, tangelo and tangerine like hop flavor. It then picks up bits of mango mixed with spicy near onion like hoppiness and some bitter hop resin. The resiny hop edge doesn’t fit in all that well with the juicy fruitiness but this doesn’t distract much from this being just a tasty IPA.

Can from Bine & Vine. Pours light gold with a slight white head. Aroma is light fruit over a bit of citrus. Flavor is less bready than expected. It’s not very. It’s also fruitier than expected, and the hop level is also higher than expected. Finishes rather dry and bitter. So much more going on here than in most Kolnisch versions.

Agree with bhensonb; this one is going to be a nightmare to track. I am just lumping my rating here like others have done. Pours crystal clear orange with a large off-white head that is creamy and dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is light grass, citrus, passion fruit. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, kinda grainy and harsh. Medium body, oily mouthfeel.

Scanned the QR. No results. Does have Solis Occasus on back of can. Can from Bine & Vine. Pours amber gold with a slight white head. Aroma is pretty hoppy. Seems fruity. Med body. Flavor is very hoppy, seems fruity/earthy, could be some citrus; and/or resin. Works up a bit of a hop burn! Hard to pick it apart. Finishes fairly bitter and quite hoppy.
