Dark brown beer, head disappears into a ring ad nowt else. Toasted malt aroma. Taste is malt and a dash of and caramel and a little chocolate but there's not a lot else going on. Fine though.

Bottle picked at Aldi Inverurie. It pours deep brown with a small off-white head. The aroma is malt - driven, earthy roasted, toasted nut, cereal, brown bread, malt loaf, bit of spice and burnt toffee. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, earthy roast, malt loaf, toasty grain, bit of dark fruits, some spice, rivita, cereal and toasted nut with a drying and spiced finish. Average body and moderate to high carbonation. Decent for the style.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s. Clear brown body with ruby highlights and a thin beige head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of rust, milk chocolate and nutty malt. Flavour of tea and wood. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Subtle and easy to drink.

Keg at Jake’s Place. Clear mahogany body with a thin off-white head that gradually fades. Light carbonation and lacing. Aroma of ash, plum, raisin, roasted malt. Flavour is plum, toast and wood. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Lively carbonation fizz. A really interesting beer, one of the best West I’ve tried. It’s a bit light on the mouthfeel, though.
