On Tap. Crystal clear light copper color with white head hanging around the edge of the glass. Light aroma mostly sweetness of some sort. Light and fairly crisp flavor of malty sweetness and some dryer grain malts. I can’t detect any hops. Very light beer that ends a little un-balanced leaning toward sweetness.

From my daughter’s secret case.Has more flavor than most of the american pale yellow beers and is a bit oranger. Many times when I ask for a dark beer the bartender hands me this. Funny how most people think of this as a dark beer, it isn’t. Just a more flavorful mouthful than your regular beer. Does anyone remember when yuengling was the cheap junk beer? Now I’m showing my age, boy how things have changed. Black & Tan is a much better beer.

A $6.99 bottle in Newark trying to kill some time before my flight to Dulles and RBSG. A brown beer - looks more like a brown ale, than a lager, with a thin disappearing beige head. The aroma is sweet with a weird fruityness to it, probably stemming from a hop sort I don’t recognize, combined with light notes of yeast and acidity. The flavor is sweet with light notes of fruit and nuts. It reminds me a lot of a Brown ale. Easily drinkable, though a bit too easy for me. I had it several times visiting Philadelphia before my time on RateBeer and remember it much better than what I think of it now...

Bottle from Piers at Catford BF 06. Crystal clear gold, no head. Corn aroma. Fizzy, sweet, please don’t make me drink any more of this.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a huge foamy head with average retention. Aroma of roasted malt is mildly entertaining. Taste is bitter from the roasted malt with some sweetness. Not much hops were discernable and body was a bit too light for my own taste. Re-rate early 2008 - more robustness in this beer then the last time I tasted and maybe more complexity but still an average porter overall.

bottle - This one was free and I hadn’t had Yuengling in years. I was expecting the rather decent amber colored brew I remembered, so I was surprised to see it pour yellow, though a slightly darker shade than many of the pale lagers. The light aroma has some hops and grainy scents. There’s a fizzy, rapidly fading head. The flavor is very lacking as with most beers of this style and the mouthfeel much too thin. It’s better than Bud or Miller, but still pretty poor.

Bottle. Not too bad. Dark brown color, with a slightly light brown head. Roasted and caramel flavor. Not the best black and tan I’ve had, but it was decent, especially for Yuengling.

Poured a darker golden amber with white head. The aroma was a sweet malt and sorta skunky mix. The taste was a rich grainy malt flavor.

Dark brown to black in color with light brown head. Roasted malt smell with a caramel flavor that blasts in your mouth. Tingly finish!
