Description
The brewery was founded as a “Rittergutsbrauerei” (manorial brewery) in 1840 by the Heydenreich family. The brewery was completely rebuild in 1890/1891 and was renewed again in 1933. In 1946 the authorities confiscated the brewery and it was incorporated into the Weimar consumer cooperative the following year. With the collapse of the GDR, however, an eventful time began for the brewery: Several investors were interested in the brewery's continued existence, but one after the other failed in this project. So it happened that in 1995, after more than 150 years of history, no more beer was brewed in Ehringsdorf. In 1999 the Wagner family from Pößneck, owners of the Rosen Brauerei, acquired the brewery site. In 2002 the construction of a new brewhouse with fermentation and storage tanks started. Beer has been brewing again in Ehringsdorf since spring 2003, of course according to original recipes.

Bottle:Clear, pale greenish-golden, quickly collapsing loose white head; mainly artificial sweet and fruity aromas ("lemonade") in the nose, "beery" influences barely detectable; sweet and sticky; hardly drier in the short sweet and "lemony"-tart finish. Meh...

Golden, mid-sized lacy head; dryish grassy nose with a grainy backgroung and - fortunately - traces of honey; mild to moderate dryish bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied and pretty soft and not that tart; bitter and slightly pale-malty-honeyish finish. No aroma, but all kn all a well drinkable drop…

Bottle: Clear, copper coloured, small but very stable off-white head; fruity-caramelly and slightly toasty nose; moderate dryish bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, not too soft; lingering bitter-toasty finish with hints of grassy hops and a delicate metallic touch. Not bad…

Bottle, courtesy of Koelschtrinker. Is this really a bock? Little more malts than the other two Ehringsdorfer I just drain poured. Taste is okay, but really not more than that. A rather "meh" beer, almost nothing of makes a difference to other styles is missing, and it’s not on purpose.

Bottle, courtesy of Koelschtrinker. Low aroma of, well, butter? Mild altogether, some off tastes, a bit flat. A beer to avoid.

Bottle, courtesy of Koelschtrinker. Starchy dirty aroma, slightly malty taste, weird bitterness that works against everything. Sub-par beer.
