Description
Established in 2006, with a 3 vessel 30 bbl brewery originally capable of making over 5,000 bbls (now upwards of 15,000 bbls) of beer each year, the new brewing company set about shaking up the craft brewing world with two distinct beer lines: the aggressive San Diego / West Coast styles under the Port Brewing label, and a Belgian-inspired series carrying the “Lost Abbey” name.

Today Port Brewing continues at the vanguard of craft brewing, ranked as one of the top 10 new breweries in the nation by both industry experts and enthusiasts alike, driven in large part by its extraordinary Lost Abbey beers and a library of 1000+ plus oak bourbon, brandy, sherry, and wine barrels that comprise one of the most remarkable barrel-aging programs for a craft brewery of any size.

Half a pint in The Church, San Diego on 19th January 2022. Clean and clear golden body, white crown. Not too sure where the Mexican bit comes in, I didn't notice any lime or salt like features, just seemed like a normal Lager. It was thirst quenching and not unpleasant, just a little underwhelming really.

Lime, caramel and toffee. A little coffee and root. Dark brown pour with good head and lacing. Bittersweet finish. Pretty nice barley wine, and I don't often love barley wines. Tap at Shelter.

Lots of coffee and some hazelnut. Roast is pretty big. Real sediment-filled murky kind of texture. Dark brown pour with good head head. Interesting but probably wouldn't want a lot of this. Lots of leather. Bitter ass finish. Tap at Shelter.

Bottle. Pours clear reddish mahogany, no head or lacing. Aroma is spiced, cinnamon, rum, vanilla, chili pepper, but pleasant. Flavor is a kick to the nuts; medium sweet, highly spiced, minimal pepper heat, cocoa. Light bitter. Medium body, flat. Well, it ain't great, but it was free 3,7,5,3,13

660ml bottle. Vintage..??? My version was 10,5% Alc. Many Thanks for this Amazing Imperial stout To Jacek Wigier (wineofdreams@gmail.com) Bottle from Beers of Europe (Norfolk Region). Poured carrefully into small crystal glass (Porterhouse Celebration Stout Barrel Aged Collection) from BOE of course. No to Mikolaj troche mi pomogl w wyborze piwa z mojej piwniczki na swiateczne wieczorne leniuchowanie. Dawno to bylo, ale odlezakowalo sporo, ze sam nie wiem ile, ale ten czas nagradza, mozna sie rozkoszowac. Niesamowite piwo. Ale powolutku. Wyglad najpierw. Czarna oleista barwa, tluste oznaki wewnatrz kieliszka. Piana gigantyczna, trwala, rosnaca sama w oczach, puszysta, kremowa i ciemno bezowa. Polecam to wyrafinowanych serow.
