Description
Established in 2006, with a 3 vessel 30 bbl brewery originally capable of making over 5,000 bbls (now upwards of 15,000 bbls) of beer each year, the new brewing company set about shaking up the craft brewing world with two distinct beer lines: the aggressive San Diego / West Coast styles under the Port Brewing label, and a Belgian-inspired series carrying the “Lost Abbey” name.
Today Port Brewing continues at the vanguard of craft brewing, ranked as one of the top 10 new breweries in the nation by both industry experts and enthusiasts alike, driven in large part by its extraordinary Lost Abbey beers and a library of 1000+ plus oak bourbon, brandy, sherry, and wine barrels that comprise one of the most remarkable barrel-aging programs for a craft brewery of any size.

750 c&c from Bine & Vine. Pours dark brown with a large, persisting creamy/foamy tan head. Aroma of dark fruits and dark malt/toffee. Bourbon notes. Full bodied. Lots of dark fruit - particularly raisins. Not dry but avoids sticky. Heat is discernible, but not excessive. Mixed stuff like oak astringency, dark malt and some coffee, and perhaps chocolate. Kandi is present, but almost gets lost. Good stuff indeed.

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours brassy gold with a decent foamy white head. Aroma of floral and citrus. Med body. Juicy but towards dry. Malty support isn't rendering it sweet. Flavor may include orange, pale stone fruit, and a pine note. The fruit might be peach. An apple note comes along. This is at least moderately bitter, and it tastes pretty good.

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours clear ruddy brown with moderate tan head. Pie spice for aroma. Heavy on nutmeg. Med body. Malty, but not really sweet. There's a lot of spice and clove/cinnamon seems dominant. Very pleasant.

Old note. Magnificent aroma (citrus and tropical fruits) and similar taste (only more pine needles were added) with strong hop bitterness and a long aftertaste, very good.
